On a Summer day
I threw all my pennies down the well
Let's make a wish for these Summer days
And at seventeen
He was everything she'd ever dreamed
It's like a drug these Summer days
"I said that I don't want you a thousand times before."
"Don't want your cards and flowers. Stop knocking at my door."
And how can I explain it? I can't fight it anymore

He spent the day
Just writing poetry to himself
It was a lovely Summer day
And she spent the day
Just weeping softly to herself
Closed all the blinds. Blot-out the day
Then looking in the mirror he thought:
"Oh my! Can it be?"
"The most extraordinary man, he was looking back at me!"
And how can I explain it when no one else can see?

Then on her gate
I saw she left a note for me
I saw my name in pink and green
And she wrote to me:
"No longer need your apathy."
"Enjoy your lonely Summer daze."
